I have H4 Gold Edition in retail box version on CDs from "Platynowa Kolekcja" (Platinium Collection) of CD Projekt. The version of the game is 3.0. I installed it on a system with Windows 7 and I can't run it. I get the message:

"Access denied. Please login with administrator privileges and try again."

Running the game as administrator doesn't help either. I also set compatibility modes for Windows 98, 2000, ME and XP. The error is then gone, but the game still does not launch, just nothing happens.

I also installed GL Wrapper 1.51, which supposedly improves the game's performance on newer systems, but it didn't change anything.

Any advice on what I can do to get H4 working?

get rid of disc version DRM. Besides regular game SafeDisc DRM (not working on latest "security updates" of Win7 until workaround tweaks applied) there is most likely additionla DRM by local publisher (both Cenega and CDpl did that often). They decrease backward compat-ability of Windows 7. Cant say if it possible to tweak by OS side.

First google it "safedisc pcgw" and solve safedisc issue.

I first tried to use cmd commands but it didn't work for me, so I uinstalled KB3086255 update and now Heroes IV runs fine.
