I just wandered if I can run HOMM5 on my hp dv6000 notebook? I looked at the system requirements here on GOG and I meet most of them no problem, but I have a problem with the VRAM. When I checked my laptop's VRAM it said that I had 256 MB available, but that none was listed as being actually in what I took to be usable form. Can someone please tell me whether I can run HOMM5 with these issues? Also, i tried to run Supreme Commander(which needs 256 MB of VRAM) and I couldn't. I talked to a tech guy at an electronics/computer store where they also work on maintenance and functionality issues, and he said the lack of VRAM was likely the reason I couldn't run Supreme Com.

If I can't run Heroes 5 on my laptop, then that would be another reason for me to get a tower which I am planning to do eventually anyway.

P.S. I noticed that I forgot to put "Q:Can I run HOMM5" as the name of the topic. Can this be changed by one of the moderators, please?

Thanks. What a relief! I loved HOMM3 and I've heard 5 is just as good. I'd like to give you the solution, but I don't know if I can, since I forgot to put a "Q:" before my question as the thread name.

Hope you enjoy the game. I just started it yesterday myself and I'm loving it so far.

HoMM3 is one of my favourite games of all time, but I really do understand that sequels have to bring changes (if someone wants more of HoMM3 they should just play more maps and not complain about how sequels changed everything). I would have loved HoMM4 if it wasn't for one thing that unbalanced everything: the way overpowered Combat skill which makes everything else almost irrelevant (especially coupled with abysmal tactical AI).

HoMM5 seems to have brought a good combination of HoMM3 and HoMM4. The heroes still can take part in battle but are not overpowered. The new combat system is good, and I like the skill system too.

My only complaints about HoMM5 so far are:
_I like the 3D environment, but I wish there was a better way of highlighting objects with which you can interact. I know you can press Alt to highlight them, but they glow very faintly and might still be missed by new players.
_I miss those short "stories" that you get on interacting with Adventure Map objects in HoMM1-4. I know they were corny, often would not fit the level story, and pretty soon you just ignore them, but nevertheless they were fun to read.

Thanks but it's not necessary, I just like to help :D
