I haven't tried the mod myself but it's supposed to add some content, fix bugs and change (fix?) the AI.

The second link is important for people with graphics card more powerful than Nvidia 7600GT and I believe modern OS like Windows 7 or 8. It's only a file you overwrite and I can confirm it works with the GOG version with Windows 7 64bit. As always back up the file it overwrites so you don't have to uninstall the game in case it doesn't work or you have to do some trial & error. The file might also become flagged as a virus, but I don't think it's anything serious, it's likely only because its made in a typical crack or fix nature.

Can you say what the issues are that the 3D Fix is supposed to take care of? I'm playing the game on a GTX 560 and am not having any issues aside from some weird popup that I got rid of by uninstalling GeForce Experience.

But nice to see that just like in case of GSC's other RTS titles fans created some fixes and custom content. Will gladly check the stuff out once I've gotten through the campaign (presuming that I won't run into any game breaking bugs that will force me to use the mod earlier).

I'm not sure but it's possible they fixed this with GOG's version of the game.

You could always try it and see if it changes anything. If it doesn't it's likely built into GOG's verison or it was more of a driver conflict that Nvidia now fixed.
