I installed it, and as soon as I hit the play button a black window flickers on the screen- it closes the instant it opens.

I messed with the settings a bit to no avail.

Totally drawing a blank here. Assistance, please.

Stating which OS and hardware you are using may help.

Anyway, did you try different compatibility settings?

Windows 7 64x
Lenovo laptop 80EC
AMD A 10-7300 Radeon R6, 10 Computer Cores 4C +6G (4 CPUs), ~1.9GHz
8192MB RAM

Let me know if I missed anything or if I'm giving wildly unusual information.

EDIT: It won't let me change compatibility from Windows 7 (no idea what that means, first time I've seen this).

As far as I know, this should happen only if the application is 64-bit program.

- Are you changing the settings of the game's actual executable or its shortcut?
- Did you try to click on "change settings for all users"?
- Try to change the compatibility mode of any other program or game: are you unable to change that setting or is the issue limited to Heretic Kingdoms?

Please, read this tutorial for more information on the subject.

This let me change it! I was not previously aware of such an option (or a need requiring such an option).

Ironically this only worked after I switched BACK to Windows 7 compatibility after trying XP compatibility... I have no idea why.

Well, whatever the case it appears to be working now! Thank you for your responses and assistance!
