I occasionally have internet connection issues, so I've run into the apparently known problem of save file disparity between "online" and "offline" mode tied to GOG Galaxy's connection status.

When I first started playing Hellpoint, I was unaware of these two modes. My GOG Galaxy client was in offline mode at the time, so I was perplexed that I couldn't load my save file when I started the game for the second time. I followed this guide, which was linked in an earlier post from August 20, 2020:

It was annoying to have to edit the .hp file every time I did start Hellpoint and found it would be in "online" mode, but I didn't want to lose the progress I'd already made, so I accepted it.

Just now, however, when I tried to load my game that should have some 17 hours and change on it, the save only appeared to have 11 hours of playtime on it. I appeared in an earlier location, and I was indeed missing levels and gathered items that I had previously collected.

I attempted to edit the .hp file again, as I'd done several times before, but my save was still in the reverted state. I tried deliberately placing GOG Galaxy in offline mode and launching the game again, but the result was the same.

I fear that the savegame has somehow been synchronised across both modes with an earlier snapshot (from the GOG cloud? I have no idea). Is there any way to restore my complete save file?
