RageGT: I think I know what's happened. I saw the autosave icon and it was late. I called it for the night and hit the bed. When I resumed the session next time, the Valraden (or whatever the name) symbols were not displaying anymore. Couldn't align them anyway. And the bridge even after making it appear through breaking the raven illusion, did not work anymore. It was the third Valraden area/gate. I had to restart the game from scratch, reach that area again, completed the puzzles and crossed the door. It wasn't that far into the game since it was the first door I chose to go through of those two possibilities. But it is still a PAIN IN THE ASS to believe the game was saved when the autosave icon showed to find out later that it only had screwed up my progress real bad. (Only a couple of hours. It could be much worse.)
Be careful where you are when you quit the game because the saving feature does not always save all it should, apparently!
I've heard of strange bugs like this regarding the game saving, so I've been backing up my savegame every half hour or so. So far, I haven't had to revert to a previous save, but I only just finished the second boss fight.
