Starts, loads, clips on the menu screens, crashes. Could use any help/suggestions.

Here's my system, it's an old iMac based on an Nvidia chipset. Seemed like it could play this, but games have really been hit or miss on it.

The fact that the game starts, suggests that your hardware is supported.

What surprises me a bit is that you seem to be using the nouveau drivers for your Nvidia card. Nouveau drivers are not optimal for running games. But then, maybe the nvidia driver doesn't support your card? You can verify that by installing nvidia-detect and running that. It will tell you which nvidia driver will work for your nvidia card.

Wayland may also be a culprit as it is much more restrictive than regular X. For example, it is impossible to run a screensaver on wayland; it was designed that way. On the graphics level, games have much in common with screensavers unless they go the borderless route.

Not much more can be said without providing specific error messages like you would get if you run the start.sh script from a console.
