I'm playing the game with a mouse and can't help thinking that the cursor speed is very slow. I'm not sure if there is any way to change it as there is nothing on the option screen.

Alternately, if the whole game is running a bit slow (for example, if it sometimes takes the game a few clicks before it registers a mouse-button press), try upping the emulated processor speed by hitting Ctrl+F11 a few times. That helped for me.
