Hi,

I have just bought HT2 and I enjoy lots of game aspects except one issue: collisions with other trucks are often very glitchy, causing fatal damage to my cargo.

Example 1: Small truck (Gazelle) bumping into mine (Kamaz) with slightly higher speed. Something that would be a minor bump even in reality, causes a glitchy, overlapping series of collision sound and destroys 80% of my cargo with a single hit.

Example 2: It is easy to get stuck with another truck at low speed. May happen at entrance to loading bays, when other truck tries to overtake me and hits my side. In result I cannot move either backwards or forwards and I hear same glitchy collision sound a lot. I can eventually get out, but my cargo - again - doesn't survive.

I wonder if that may be some compatibility issue, causing game to get weird on modern PC / OS. Maybe it can be avoided with some settings or patch...

I don't remember such issue from original playthrough. But my memory can be treacherous - it might be almost 20 years ago when I played the game last time.

Regards,
Peter.
Hello,

i mostly remember the same issues *back then* when i was younger so i kinda doubt its an compatibility issue (but feel free to prove me wrong :P)
My younger me developed an ESC-Trigger-finger (to call 911) to instantly set me back on the road when i see a collision may happen.
I have a lot of wierd collision sounds when driving above 100 with the BMW-Car-Thing (I think its an BMW) which is said cuz i like the speed :P

No its not a compatibility issue. I have the same problem too. Probably it's just how the game is developed.
Thanks for replies.

I have found some interesting information on PCGamingWiki. Since I'm not allowed to post links, you have to look for "Unresolved issues" section for Hard Truck 2 on your own. I can quote their info though:
The impact of this issue can be reduced by changing the game resolution as follows.
1600x1200 (Russian title) or 1280x960 (English title) assuming your graphics card supports these resolutions.
If you must use resolutions of 1024x768 or less, avoid colliding with cars and objects as you may experience game breaking physics.
Despite selecting English as game language, GoG's version of the game seems to be Russian in technical way, as it has option to select 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768 and 1600x1200 resolutions. Or maybe it is how King of the Road is designed, since it is expanded version of previously released Hard Truck 2 (if I remember correctly).

Unfortunately I can't test it - despite having possibility to use Virtual Super Resolution (I can practically use 2k and 4k resolutions on Full HD screen) and to set custom resolutions (for example 1600x1080 works), I couldn't set and use 1600x1200. Looks like custom resolutions are not set for VSR, so I can't confirm or deny PCGamingWiki info.

1600x1200 added in patches (for american\eu versions and later to russian). Not fully supported. And this is 4:3 resolution which is HIGHER than 16:9 Fullhd.
Some years later, I tried 1600x1200, and the crashes are still glitchy. Doesn't really fix anything.
