Hello. This game seems quite enjoyable but I was wondering about the multiplayer. Most of my friends are on steam and would probably enjoy the game. Will I be able to play with them, or only with DRM free versions? Thanks for your time.
I glanced at the host and join options, Joining requires you to know your IP address you're gaming with. So I am going to assume yes you can, unless there's an internal version difference between the steam/GoG versions that won't let them connect (But that seems unlikely).
I'd love to know how the multiplayer system works also, with details if possible?
My experience so far is limited with Local only (Same computer), however as I said it appears to be you can insert your own IP addresses into it allowing you to connect with anyone.

It appears also to be limited to 4 players, although a few of the custom maps I've played (survival) even on that it can get slow with hundreds (or thousands) of enemies. Beyond that it will run really well even with four players.

As for a test example if you want, PM me your IP address (assuming you aren't behind a router or firewall), then you'd go to multi-player, select 'host', then I'd tap into the game from my computer and we go from there.

I'm not sure if it's like StarCraft where if you're missing a map that it will auto download, but I certainly hope so.
Browse option doesn't seem to do squat...

Had a test on global IP on multiplayer, worked dandy :D Don't know how to continue a certain multi-game where we were was left off, though. Paladin is pretty awesome, being the only with melee + blocking attacks, risky.

PS. Had a bit of trial & error - found out that you can resume a multiplayer game by loading the previous game (if you were the host) & others join by entering your IP (if they still have the save game, I'd presume?).

Awesome, sounds like a good time.
Some answers:

1) Hosting a game works both for LAN/IP specific games and for games matched across some centralized server. From the host perspective, nothing needs to be done differently between the two, except that you can check the "Private" box which I'm guessing prevents strangers from browsing your game on the server and probably makes your game joinable by IP only.

2) For joinees: You can join a game by specifying the IP of the host (in particular for LAN games) or browing on the game's server and find the game there among those listed.

4) Theoretically, I guess it would be possible to have a mix of joinees between people who targeted your IP (probably on your LAN) and people who browsed your game on the server if it's not private, but I haven't tried it yet.

5) If you want to resume a game (assuming you were the host), load it and have the players join it. They should have all the same stuff (money, upgrades) as when the last game was saved. Not sure how the matching works exactly, but I'm guessing it might be by player name.

Hope it helps.
