When I download the Linux version of Hammerwatch, it is the older version 1.23... I remember when I installed it at an earlier date it was an updated version. :(

P.S. Why no tarball version anymore?

Nevermind the post, I re-purchased the game on Humble and they have the new version for Linux! I will just play that version.
I'm still a little curious about this. I just did a new download and install and it's v1.23 where as my steam copy is v1.31. I don't know if there is a meaningful difference between the two, but it was something I noticed. Both seem to be working fine outside of some stuttering.

Gog's version is missing the expansion The temple of the Sun that is part of version 1.3 + a lot of improvements. Full changelog here: http://steamcommunity.com/app/239070/discussions/0/616187839517671495/

Basically you are missing half the game on gog.

Just a note to all of us Linux users still hoping for the 1.3 (or 1.31) of this game, I sent an email to the dev regarding this issue on GOG.

In the meantime, the only other suggestion I can give is to either play the Humble Bundle version which is 1.3, or use the Steam version which is 1.31 and DRM-Free (it's what I'm doing as a workaround to the problem).
I send a mail some month ago, too. Nothing happened - no answer.
That's disappointing. I picked up three copies during the recent insomnia sale to hand out and occasionally play with a few people who have Steam copies. I didn't realize at that time that this release was not updated.

I might be able to refund the (currently unredeemed) gift copies if we can't all play together, but I'd rather see if we can get an update first.

There is now a newer version added to Steam three days ago, v1.32. I made a post on the Steam forum today about getting the update here; we'll see if that helps any.

April 06, 2016 Edit: v1.3.2 has made its way here for all OSes (Win/Mac/Linux)!

Hammerwatch was just updated on gog.com to version 1.32 which is the final version of Hammerwatch up to date. Already downloaded the Linux version and can confirm that its the up to date version of the game.

Been rockin' Hammerwatch on Linux Mint 17.3 64 bit. Givin' my Logitech F310 a workout.
