Has there been any discussion anywhere about the game's performance lacking in Linux when compared to Windows? I recently bought the game and I can get smooth frame rates at any resolution on Windows, but it's a very different story on Linux (Mint 17)

On Linux it runs fairly well for me in an 800x600 window, but the performance begins to tank with higher resolutions. Going full screen at my monitor's native resolution isn't all that playable. I was rather surprised by this given the game's retro appearance, but here we are.

My video card is a 750ti which should be more than sufficient. Everything is setup for 3D acceleration, with other games running just fine.

As a followup I had wiped my entire system. I installed Mint 17.2 with Cinnamon, where as before I had Mint 17 with KDE. For whatever reason the game performance is much stronger now with the same hardware. The only difference beyond the OS and window manager change is the game may have been installed on a physical drive before where as now it's installed on an SSD. I doubt that has much to do with it. More likely it's the software change or newer different video drivers.

I don't see any performance changes related to the screen size like before. There is a really annoying stutter, or frame skip thing that happens every couple of seconds. It happens on both the GoG 1.23 version and a Steam 1.31 version, but it seems worse with the GoG version for whatever reason. I haven't decided if it's ruining the experience yet or not. Other than that it's pretty solid.

The GOG Linux version has worked pretty good for me (Mint 17.3 64 bit). I get an ocassional frame stutter, but it's rare. Bare in mind, the GPU in my ThinkPad T410 is a so-so Nvidia NVS 3100M (600MHz) with the 340 driver for Linux.
