A friend of mine got me into Hammerwatch ages ago by basically buying me a copy and forcing me to play. Turned out pretty great because I absolutely loved the game. I just recently noticed there was this Sun Temple expansion and rushed to play it only to find I cant update to 1.3.. I found a post on this forum saying we need to redownload the launcher to update, but I dont have the original account info it was purchased from. Iv been trying to contact my buddy, but he has since stopped playing pretty much everything we played together.. Is there any way to update without having to buy another copy of the game?

Long story short: no, there is no way to get the update if you whether lost the info of the account the game was originally attached to or if someone else got you an installer from their account and you don't actually own the game yourself.

Now, if you do have a GOG account in which you actually own the game, then I'd recommend contacting GOG Support so they can help you sort it out. But, from my understanding, the only solution for your specific case is probably having to buy a copy of the game.

[EDIT] Well, obviously, there are... "less than legal ways" to update the game, but as you might understand I won't help you with that, and you probably won't get much help pirating GOG stuff anywhere in these forums.

Hah. While the original game was purchased legitimately, but I did update it the first time (1.0 to 1.23) via 3rd party as obviously I had the same problem I am currently having.. Normally I wouldn't admit that, but as I said, the original game was purchased, so Im not overly worried about it.

Unfortunate that there is no way around this.. though I suppose for $10 its really not the end of the world. Ill probably end up giving it a few more days and if this thread yields no solution Ill just re-buy the game since contacting my buddy seems out of the question (Last online steam was over 8 months ago -.-)

Thanks for the quick reply.
