So I originally played this game back when it came out for the original xbox. I was a really big fan of it.
It's kinda irksome that this game is continually compared to Red Dead Redemption, like they came out at the same time.

Anyways so the news that I'm sharing is that there was originally planned a sequel, GUN 2.
But it got cancelled due to a Native American group protesting the original for its portrayal of Native Americans.

Needless to say, I was very miffed to hear this news at the time.
My outrage only grew as as the years went on and many very similar games had no insurmountable issues getting released.

Hopefully, now that we have DRM-free version of the game, some of us old gamers can make some mods for it that'll give it a GUN remastered feel, even if we'll never get that GUN 2 game.

The point of this post was to say, that maybe if the sequel was never cancelled, people would be talking about the GUN series instead of RDR. Especially considering Activision started the Call of Duty series around the same time as GUN.

neversoft themselves pulled the plug on gun 2 because they didn't have the funding to staff up for a next-gen (back then) open world western game - they decided to do more tony hawk instead. the president of neversoft and the gun project lead have talked about this over the years.

i guess its fun (or heartbreaking) to "what if" about this stuff but gun wasn't a dynamite seller. i don't know who filled your head with this culture war crap but it had nothing to do with the cold reality of business.
