I'm thinking about buying this, but the only computer I've got access to right now is a netbook. Has anyone tried this on one? Will it run in resolutions 1024x600 or smaller? Can it be controlled OK by a keyboard without a number pad?

Many thanks!
The game's locked at 640x480 res-wise, so as long as you can set up your netbook's GPU to fit to the screen but maintain the aspect ratio of the resolution you're using (as opposed to stretching the image to fill the entire display), your screen will be fine. :)

Control wise, I really wouldn't even recommend -trying- to play the game with a keyboard at all. You're going to need to pull off a fair few quarter-circles to stand a chance of winning, so you're probably better off hunting down a small pad from somewhere.
Thanks! I used to be able to pull off quarter-circle moves on a keyboard in One Must Fall, but that game probably expected people to be playing with a keyboard and made it easier.
This is much, MUCH faster than One Must Fall.
I wouldn't say you shouldn't try with a keyboard. People in the fighting game scene using controllers with just buttons and do fine (http://shoryuken.com/f177/hit-box-stickless-arcade-stick-259006/). It's just what you're used to. The only thing you have to worry about is if you can press the buttons you need on the keyboard and it recognize all the buttons pressed.
You can do it... Many melty blood players mainly use keyboards... but you will have a very hard time to start with.
I find it much easier and I am much better at the game with a keyboard. Only thing you might get trouble with are instant kill moves.
If you don't already have one, get a cheap USB gamepad. Trying to play a fighting game with m&k is like eating soup with a damn fork. m&k works great with most PC games, but with certain genres it's not gonna cut it. I realize that many a PC afacianato feel that gamepads are "beneath them". But to get the best experience outta certain genres, you're gonna have to deflate your ego and get one.

A Logitech Dual Action (PS2 Dual Shock clone) costs like $20 and works fantastic. I own one and use it for 2D action games. Good news is: if you use a USB gamepad, GGX2R automatically maps the controls to it. Very conventient.

It's not that I feel that a gamepad is beneath me. I've actually got one already, but it's on another continent at the moment. I'm packing light for a while to study abroad.

Thanks for the advice, everyone!
It works fine on my netbook with everything turned on

Intel Atom n450 1.66ghz Dual Core
1GB Ram
Intel Media Accelerator X3150

Pixel Shaders seem to work and are not greyed out in the config menu.

I strongly reccomend you avoid playing this game with a keyboard because it wont work on the Netbook in an appropriate fashion.
