I would like to say that I am very impressed with the game, and I would like to see more more gog.com one on one fighters, especially 2d ones. Simply put, I am hoping that someone at gog.com reads this and decides to put on more fighters like it.
Like Street Fighter 2 :D
Most like GG are Blazblue and Melty Blood. Melty blood is a natural fit for GOG as PC friendly versions already exist. SF2 will be a tough sell given the amount of emulated versions. a SF2/3/Alpha collection might fair better, but truthfully signing Capcom won't be easy because they do so very little for PC, even if they wanted to join the roster it would cost them money to make Vista/Win7 compatible versions of their games that aren't just straight up ROMs running on a slapped together cruddy emulator. Lord knows they won't package their games with MAME, as hilarious as that would be. Other than that there is SF4, but that's frankly too new to be a GOG release anyways, it's still selling for big money considering all the expansions.

Other fighting games available to PC are few and far between. GG is truly amongst the best. You have DOA online which went nowhere fast (and is still too new for GOG), fxFighter, which is the right age, but isn't what I'd call good, and well... Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3.. which I hope has appeared on GOG's radar. A hard sell, like SF2, even at 6 dollars, but I couldn't agree more, GOG needs a stronger fighting game scene, especially ones that can link players here in the forums.

It's funny.. PC gamers often blast console gamers for what the FPS genre has become, citing the lack of difficulty and nuance.. But at the core of competitive and nuanced gaming is the fighting game, as pure as it gets.. And they are nigh on completely absent from the PC gamers realm.
Here's a pretty good list of PC fighting games. http://www.gamespot.com/games.html?platform=5&category=Fighting+Games&mode=all&sort=views&dlx_type=all&sortdir=asc&official=all&tag=games%3Bfooter%3Bmore Notice the general lack of quality. =) I implore you to youtube anything made prior to 1996, you'll not be amused. There seems to be a hidden gem or two in here though.. Particularly this one must fall battlegrounds game.. I wonder!

TMNT is on there, it plays like powerstone, which qualifies it as a fighter.. but like powerstone, probably will bore you half to death in no time. I always have high hopes for a Smash Brothers like 3D fighter and then completely flabbergasted by how yawners they are. It doesn't matter to me that it's unrealistic in 3d to simply roll off a platform to a platform below, it's necessary to mechanics! They never get the physics or items right either... enough ranting though..
I really love the setting and humor. The selection of characters is great and they nailed the innuendo. The mechanics are also very solid even though I have never been good at combos.

While its not a fighter, I'd be tickled to death of GOG.com published Raiden III on PC.
I think one of my earliest posts on GOG was about wanting MK on here - but really, I'd love to see others as well. However, it's a case of lacking both quantity and quality. Old news for PC fans of the genre. One potential solution is to get the companies to sell ROMs. PC users wouldn't have much trouble putting them to good use via emulators. Lots of people do that already. But I guess it would be such a heavy dent in Capcom's wallet to sell me Darkstalkers or Cyberbots. Pfft. Hopefully they'll continue selling new iterations of SF to PC gamers, and perhaps this "inspires" others to grab some cash *khm Netherrealm, you dimwits khm*.

not pre-1996, but I've heard good things about Melty Blood.
You might try Vanguard Princess. It's free. It's in Japanese, though, so setting up and installing can be a bit of a pita from what I've seen.

Just found Guilty Gear: Isuka on GamersGate:

Must be new, I was very surprised to see it.

As I understand it, while Isuka isn't considered as good at GGX2, it is 4-player and meant to be a bit more of a crazy, fun game like Smash Bros.

Wonder if this will be coming to GoG as well? I like GG but GoG and Steam are my favorite online stores.

The problem with Melty Blood is that the last PC release was Act Cadenza (which got 2 revisions each with a new character added) and since then we've had Actress Again and a revision of that, neither of which have had PC releases unfortunately. Act Cadenza is good, but players who have since switched to AA will tell you it's unbalanced and some characters are cheap.

Also, Melty Blood's sprites aren't hi-res like Guilty Gear's. They have a lot of detail for low res but they're low res. I don't think Actress Again has hi-res sprites either. That said, Melty Blood would still be a cool addition, despite its flaws I still kind of like it (but I wish Actress Again was on PC...why must French Bread betray us?)

BlazBlue is by the same devs as GG (there's even a GG reference in there I think) but the only official PC port I know of was released in Europe only if I recall, and it was the first game (since then we've gotten 2 sequels)

@Zeether:

BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger is available through GFWL in the US, but afaik that's the only way to get it other than importing via Amazon (about $35 either way).

You might try enabling MLAA in Melty Blood to improve the low-res sprites. It certainly improves GGX2 at high resolutions.

Wow, I had no idea BlazBlue got a PC release here. GFWL though...

It's funny, DotEmu has Isuka and GOG has #R. Neither has both. Anyway, it's very affordable on DotEmu.
isuka isn't new, and gog has the better version. there is a foreground/background system in isuka that's annoying to allow for 4 fighter combat. it was a novel idea, but bad. you had to turn manually and it all took away from the goodness of GG, fighting. it had an infinitely worse story mode, and the modes it did have were damaged by the fore/background and manual turning aspects. it had a beat-em-up mode which was nearly good enough to save it, but it wasn't. i own every version of GG except isuka cause it was bad. as bad as the first X for dreamcast at least. As bad as GG for playstation, and i scoured the internet and paid 30 bucks for it cause it's kinda rareish. Reload was the best version ever released on PC and the best versions of all (slash and AC, however your tastes are) are direct evolutions of #Reload, not Isuka.
