It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Unless you select "options" (which I only did to change the install path), GGX2 appears to install Foxit automatically. I looked it up, and it's a freeware PDF reader.

The problem is that Foxit, based on this review, messes with your system:

"It will automatically check you into the Foxit license agreement, and you are also opted-in to install the Foxit Search Bar that changes your default search provider to Ask and makes Ask.com your home page. It also opts you into the Foxit add-on for Firefox, and into creating desktop, quick launch, and Start menu icons that link to eBay. Also, in our tests, it commandeered the default PDF reader setting even though we unchecked that box."

I am selecting *not* to install Foxit at all... I'm not sure if running the default install asks your permission or not, and I don't want to find out. Even if it does, I don't think including a garbage program like this in the installer is appropriate. It is not needed to play the game, it bloats the filesize, and any gamer can get a PDF reader on their own without GoG's "help". They must be getting paid by Foxit/Ask to include the program in the game installer. Well, I paid for the game, and I should be getting it free of adware, bloatware, and other garbage. It says nowhere on the game's page that this junk would be included in the installer.

This is almost as bad as including DRM.

Ye, Foxit Reader can cause several problems, the browser plugin caused freezes multiple times for me when I opened a PDF file in my Firefox.

Adobe Reader was reeeeally slow in older versions but the current one works just fine. GOG should step away from this adware.
Wait, why the hell does this include that piece of crap?

I used to use it, but it kept hijacking my download links and made Firefox crash. WTF, GOG?
I wasn't aware this included Foxit, probably because I went into the options to change the install path like cryotek did.

And I can vouch for Foxit being garbage after experiencing similar browser issues people have mentioned when using it. PDF-XChange is the only PDF software I need or would want to use.

I love Foxit, it's so much smaller and faster than the Adobe reader. I've never had problems with the browser plugin, either, but then I use Chromium.
Huh, I don't see anything about Foxit anywhere in my installer, and it didn't install anywhere to my system.

I didn't see anything in the installer either, and it didn't install Foxit on my PC, but I checked the EULA and Foxit is indeed mentioned.

I'm a bit worried about this, I'd rather not end up having to check my PC for crapware after each install of a GOG game.
I've used Foxit for years and found it to be vastly better than Adobe... although having just checked apparently I'm still on V 2.3- is the crappiness a recent addition?

And what would you recommend as a replacement?

I use Sumatra PDF.

I say Adobe Reader X... they impoved it a lot over time.
Okay, I just installed GGX, clicked on "Options" and it doesn't say anything about installing or not installing Foxit Reader.

However, the license explicitly mentions it.

I wonder if the installer doesn't try to install it if you already have something in your system...
wait, has anyone but the OP actually seen it try to install foxit? Because I sure didn't..

I also don't have it after installing.

As for alternatives, I'll just say "practically anything that displays pdf's using libpoppler" but that probably doesn't work for windows folks. I certainly would NOT reccomend Adobe's reader.
That's strange... I don't have it installed now, nor have I seen any mention of it anywhere in the GGX2 installer.

But yes, it is a piece of crap, and Sumatra is far better.
I just installed Guilty Gears X2 without going to the options, can't seem to be able to find foxit.
Perhaps they silently updated the installer?
