My save games keep disappearing! I just started the game again today, and there are no save games. This happened after I played last night as well. So today, I played a bit, waited until I hit one of those altars, then quit the game, went back in, and checked that I did have that saved game. Played much further, then stopped to do other things.

Now I've gone into the game again and - no save games!

Games is installed in D:\Games
There's a folder under My Documents called GuacameleeSTCE - but it's empty.

I've tried running the game as Administrator - but that doesn't work either.

Any ideas?

It was not Windows 10 being a pain, but BitDefender AV. It decided to "protect" MyDocuments and all subfolders (where Guac was trying to write the file). Weirdly, this didn't make the game even know that the file write had failed.

If you use an AV that does this kind of thing, give GAMEDRMFREE.EXE the right to write to this folder. That solves it. Or you can let it "save" a game - early on - and then look in the AV logs to see which application was blocked, and grant access to that application.
