I have the latest version of Linux Mint 18.3 and WINE on my old non-gaming laptop and the game runs. It does spin up every fan in there but that's what I experience with Windows, so nothing unexpected out of a non-gaming laptop. I only tried the first level, so your mileage may vary but it also comes as no surprise since the Gold Edition apparently has a Linux port.
