Just bought and installed this classic. Running Win7 build 7100 64bit, ive tried running it in compat mode and as administrator.
it loads and I get a black box in the top left of my screen with sound, and what not, but no video or full screen
Any suggestions?
Kimbie

yeah I get the same but I get the black box flashing up and minimising several times before it just crashes.
Yet another game I have bought that won't run on Windows 7 :(
I have Win 7 64bit too but no any problems. Even don't have to run it with as administrator. Install and lounch thats all. Maybe it depends of hardware. I have C2D & Radeon 4870.
It seems the GoG version isn't that much different from my retail installation.
In order to even start the game set Compatibility to windows 2000
Next up is a speed problem, when starting the game you will notice what i mean.
(The Complete main menu animation will take ~2 seconds)
To fix this Alt-Tab out and set CPU Core affinity to a single Core.
This all solved my problems with the game.
Just in case it might be Hardware related:
AMD X2 3800+ // 5gb // ATI HD3650 // Windows 7 x64
I'm running a Pentium D dual core 2.5ghz with 4gb and 9600GT.
Tried win2000 mode it still does the same thing. Could it be a problem with nVidia cards?
When Windows 7 retail version is available you may find that GOG start releasing the games on their site with Win7 compatibility instead of just XP and Vista. They can't do this yet as Windows 7 retail isn't available. It will take some time for them to do this for their full catalogue, however, but some games may work fine as they are.

Yeah the eluded to that in an email from them about problems with Die by the Sword which out of all the games I've bought only Ground Control 2 and DBTS have failed to work on win7.

It might be because of nVidia, but i have no way to test it, my last nVidia card is a Geforce 2
And ya thats the never ending fun part when the OS makers give evaluation/beta versions..
This gives users but more important, Administrators and Software company's additional time to see if there programs are compatable with the new OS version.
But because this a evaluation OS that hasn't been released yet, those company's don't have to support it.
This applies not only to windows but to almost any other software.
And GoG is right not yet to support non released windows versions.
If they make it compatible and later on when it hits the shelf's there working patch no longer works, it creates extra work for GoG.
Heck i am in the same boat.. until release, work we won't resolve any Windows 7 problems for our customers..
So we just will have to wait until 22nd October.
GCII working on W7 (yes i have disabled any and all visual goodies)

On retail windows 7 Premium x64 GCII works out of the box for me other than I have to run as admin.
Just installed GCII:SE yesterday. It seemed to work fine when I played through the tutorial. Playing on a dual core with nvidia GT130M and win7...
Only having problems with one of my games, Sacred: Gold. Extremely dodgy fps when the screen is all zoomed out and busy with npc activity, lagge-dy-lag.
---
EDIT: Belay that... Problems with GCII videos - which I skipped first time I tested... Also I now notice that I have to start the game twice every time, and first startup seems to hog some cpu, making the game take a bit of a toll on my pc.
---
2nd EDIT: After encountering the problem with another game hanging at start up, I decided to investigate a bit. Found out that the rundll32.exe was somehow involved since it seemed to activate and hog a lot of cpu power with the first attempted game startup. Searched some info about that on the net and finally found out that the new Game Explorer for Windows was the culprit. Someth' 'bout the gameux.dll file preventing the startup because of a continous loop of attempts to connect and gather game info online. The simple solution would seem to connect to internet and run the game once, let it do the search for a couple seconds, and then indeed the game seems to load. After that one connection playing the game without internet connection should be possible... PS: I've succesfully tried this solution with the other game in question (Warhammer 40k: Winter Assault) not with GCII, yet.

I have installed GC on two separate computers: a homebuilt desktop and an Alienware M11x. Both are running Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. The interesting thing is my desktop runs GC just fine, while the M11x crashes just like Centy's situation. The one thing that I have found with trying to figure this out is that the M11x version has the blue and yellow shield for the User Account Control (UAC), while my desktop version does not. I don't know if that is the issue wit the UAC, but as of right now, it seems like a possibility.
I don't know why nobody from GOG has posted this yet here, but they have the solution to this problem. It's essentially related to this support article. I submitted a support request to them, and here's what I got:
"From Your Dxdiag I see that You are using either SLI or dual monitors.
Have you tried to disable the SLI/dual and run the game after that?"
I did indeed have a multi-monitor setup going. Disabling it before launching GC2 (in Windows 7, just hit WIN-P and select Computer Only) solved the problem entirely. I suspect that disabling SLI (somehow - I've never had SLI so I can't help with that) would have the same effect.
Post here if this works for you!
Sacred 2 does not support dual monitors. In order to get Sacred 2 to work, disable one of the monitors and then it should boot without issue. If you have dual monitors on it do exactly as people are reporting here. You will have flashing of screen, even a black screen and hear sound. But until you stop that second monitor from working you will not get Sacred 2 to work.

Thank you *very* much. I've tried every solution in this thread and only yours worked (and the key combination will most definitely come in handy many times more)
