The game suffers from an horrible mouse lag when the world game window is running, once you open any menu the lag dissapears but into the game the mouse is floating and make the game completely unplayable because the ingame mouse sensitivity option does not help to this specifically.

Nothing Works. I've tried compatibility settings, 1024x768 mode instead my native resolution, no scaling/scaling, windowed mode or full screen. I've tried borderless gaming, dxwnd, different ddraw wrappers... Nothing works. It is a shame that a game that could be a classic falls in these cheap technical problems.

I am running Windows 10 with the last updates.

Greetings

I'm having what I think might be the same problem, running the GOG version of the game via PlayOnLinux/WiNE in XFCE Mint Gnu/Linux. I don't know if opening a menu fixes it, because so far I've not managed to do so. At first I thought the mouse was lagging by about 40 seconds, but with further experimentation, found that the cursor movement doesn't seem to correlate to mouse movement at all, and the initial correlation on a 40-second delay was likely just random chance. The game starts up, goes through a couple of splash screens, then to a "main menu", and after a few seconds, the yellow hand cursor shows up, and starts drifting, seemingly randomly, until it finally goes off screen and isn't seen again until I kill the program from PoL and start the whole process over. The hand does sometimes drift over the buttons, and this does cause them to highlight, but there's no apparent response to clicking, either when they're highlighted, or 40 seconds prior to their highlighting.
I was able to resolve this problem by installing DirectMusic into the Wine environment.

I have (had) the same issues. I managed (somehow, with alot of patient...), to change the resolution to 1024x768. After that, the game ran flawless.

I also have no idea, why the configfile is some sort of crypted code and not a readable config file, we all know and love, to set-up the basics, like resolution, fullscreen, lalala... This would help ALOT, to fix this issue.

Set compatibility to Win 95. That helped me
