Hello

I've just had a casual browse through the community wishlist, only to be first surprised, then saddened GOG decided to move all the votes for the original game to the remastered and call it case closed.

I guess it would've been OK if the remastered edition delivered, but sadly, for many people it did not.

So, I'd like to raise awareness to go here and vote if you're like me and actually voted for the original:
https://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/grim_fandango_original_version

Sorry if there was already a topic about this, but it's not stickied or on the first page, yet somehow I feel like this message needs to reach more people, especially everyone who voted and still want the original.

The original is still in the Remastered edition, so how exactly did it not deliver?

Has it been reworked like any other GOG game, for modern OS compatibility?

Of course, that's one of the reasons for why they did the remaster (and since the original is included, it applies to it as well).

Sorry, but I don't see anywhere on remastered Grim Fandango page saying it includes the original game, just a video making of.

Normally, it's listed if it includes the original, like for example The broken sword 1, where you get the original and remastered version for the price of one.

It includes the original version, but not on a separate installer if that's what you want. You get the game and you're able to switch between both versions (either during the game or on the options menu by changing 'Render Mode').

Just like Day of the Tentacle Remastered.

Hey, thanks for clearing that up, hopefully someone else finds it useful too.

Technically speaking though, we still don't have the original as a stand alone GOG release, and would have to purchase remastered in order to play it.

The question is, would Double Fine even be interested in something like that. Probably not.
Technically, the Original really isn't included, they re-recorded the music because of copyright shenanigans. That's probably why we won't just get an installer with the original, untouched game either.

You could just go and buy the disc...
Or wait for a sale like right now and skip the remaster if you don't like it.
