Title says it all! I played up until the beginning of the petrified forest yesterday and when I started the game today all my save files are gone. I always use at least two save slots in case one would stop working but I can't locate either of them. I play on PC with all the patches installed and I don't use Galaxy.

Does anyone know why this happened and what I can do to not make it happen in the future? I'd like to keep on playing but it just doesn't feel worth it if I have to complete the game in one go.

I don't know what has happened, but the save game location is AppData\Roaming\Doublefine\GrimFandango (AppData is a hidden folder in your user profile folder). If you have problem with disappearing saves you can always make backup copies of your save game files to some other location after each gaming session. If save games disappear just copy the backup files back to save game folder.
