I'm officially stuck when you reach the Pearl and the giant octopus. When I go around the rock and Chepito gets stuck on those red vines, Manny walks to move to another screen automatically but then it freezes everytime! I honestly don't know what to do and I even tried updating the game to make sure it was up to par. I don't know what to do. :(

Same problem here on Linux. Is there any hope? I really don't want to request a refund.

This happened to me as well. After Chepito gets stuck in the red vines, the game should play a cutscene - you can see it by yourselves, it's the subsaway.ogv file in the MoviesHD subdirectory; I know it because I watched a walkthrough for the old version on YouTube. Instead the game freezes and the only way to exit from it is to kill the process (I am running Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit).

This is particularly annoying as it breaks the game making it impossible to complete - and it's too late to get a refund. I am going to contact the GOG staff and see if there is some solution to be found.

I got stuck in the same place, on Linux (freeze just after Chepito gets stuck in the vines). I managed to work around by downgrading to Proton 6.3-8 in the Steam UI & re-starting the game.
