Hi,

If I try to start the game, it crashes and i get the said message.

What I tried so far:
- installing directx_Jun2010_redist
- deleting some dx9-dll-files as described in some posts
- reinstalling the game
- running the repair utility
- editing options.txt, tried several options (fullscreen, my screen resolutions)
- running the game as admin
I use the offline installer.

My setup: ATI Radeon R9 380, driver 17.5.2 (which is up to date), Core I5-4580, 8GB RAM.
I am running Windows 7 x64.

I would be grateful for any advice.
Did you also try removing/renaming the "options.txt", sounds like it's a very slim chance of helping but worth a shot I guess.

Perhaps also try renaming the "Grim Dawn.exe" to something random just as a test, sometimes drivers detect games by the executable and because differently accordingly. Again though I wouldn't hold my breath on that working.

Best bet may be to ask on the official Grim Dawn forum/site.
Hi,

i found a solution.
Because I had trouble with many other games, I tried several versions of the AMD driver for my card.
And with some old version from 2016 (16.4.1) the game runs normal.
Other versions (17.4.4 and 17.5.2) didnt work.

So, if anyone else runs into this problem with an ATI-card: An older driver may be worth a try.
