does anyone else have freeze/crash issues after having updated to .4?

posted on the grimdawn forums already:

"I have the gog version as well. the game just hangs when when an older character is loaded (tried starting it via the gog-galaxy client and when the client was closed via the normal shortcut), i.e. the "loading game indicator" on the crate logo just stops at the bottom of the box

created a new char and saw the opening cinematic - interaction with the guy near the gallow (jarvis?) was possible. exiting to the main menu crashes the game, though."

tried to verify/repair and as the procedure was not successful I reinstalled .... and still have the same issue

Sadly I have same problem... Waiting for fix.

Same problem(s) here.

1. The verify/repair option or reinstalling the game doesn't seem to help.

2. When i step back to the main menu from the game, it crashes in almost all of the cases.

3. When i try to load some of my existing characters, the game hangs mid-loading (and only hard reset helps). However, some of other old characters can be loaded without any problem. (All characters are 100% legit, no external programs or other modifications were used on them.)

Hopefully Crate and GoG will be able to solve this problem fast with a hotfix. (Tomorrow, maybe?)


By the way, Grim Dawn is a really excellent game, and i have to admit that it was absolutely stable so far (until 1.0.0.4.). I hope this is just a small stamble, and everything will be back in the normal flow.

same problem as above here...can play my low level chars but my lel 74 arcanist doesnt start...same issue as above...loading screens hangs at the halfway-cratesymbol....

just saw the "ectoplasm droprate increased" and thought ...jeah lets fetz...but now its more a FUUUUUCCCKK

btw...no cheats...no mods...no anything..........and jeah its a really great game so:

The installer won`t even complete for me, even tried a fresh reinstall of the game.

They acknowledged the problem on the official forums.

Yes. I can't start a game with an existing character - just hangs/crashes. I started a game with a brand new character and made it as far as accessing the stash, at which point - you might see this coming - hang/crash.

On the previous version I could play without crashing as long as I didn't try to exit the game via the in-game menu. That would crash my system. Alt-Tab/right click/close program was necessary.

So far, one of the most frustrating experiences I've had with a computer game from a technical standpoint, going back to, say, unpatched Fallout 2. Other than that a pretty good game that I wish worked.

any news about hotfix ?

Yes, the game freezes when loading my 58 level warlock. :(

Ah crap, I thought updating before playing today would be a good idea... nope.

Crashing after loading char, just browsing my inventory, bam, freeze. Reproducable :(


BTW very nice with gog galaxy: rollback to the previous version in the settings, doing that now...

hmmm after the hotfix: first start...everything worked fine....second start game freezes after a few seconds with every char...anyone else with the same problem?

I thought this game was out of early access. Thats why I bought it this morning. 3 freezes/crashes later I check forums and instantly regret purchase.

I have been playing since I used the setup grim dawn 2.0.0.5. Have been playing offline since.

Lately I heard about patches and found the download available from my grim dawn box here

setup 2.4.0.9
patch 2.3.0.8
patch 2.4.0.9
patch 2.5.0.10

I cannot get any of them to work. All the patches say "this patch does not support your version of the game please download a new installer"

setup 2.4.0.9 fire up but never move about creating the grim dawn directory and creating a few icons in that directory, yes I waited for a very long time, no harddisk activity, no nothing.

Is there a support email box? I looped thru support page again and again but seems to be unable to fire up a support ticket
