Situation:
Fresh Install of GrimDawn with GOG Galaxy on an W10 Home x64 Laptop with Intel HD620 builtin graphics and discrete NVIDIA 950M...
- First Start: Small black square, nothing else. Had to shutdown "Grim Dawn.exe", and let the automatically started GrimDawn Crash Reporter do his duty...
- Visited like suggested by 'GOGuserAz' the GrimDawn forum webpage and went to the then last entry. (CAN'T POST THE ACCORDING URL RIGHT NOW, POST EDITOR PREVENTS IT?) Read the message, tried the same, worked. GrimDawn was finally able to start.
**SUMMARY**:
Right after installation "C:\Users\*USER*\Documents\My Games\Grim Dawn\Settings\options.txt" contains only 2 values (screenMode, resolution)! Change value "resolution" to your current (or next lower) screen resolution value. In my case the value has been "1024 768" (I guess mostly because I run "Repair.exe" from GrimDawn's installation folder before), after changing it to "1920 1080" (Laptop's native resolution) I was able to start the game like expected. HOWEVER, after then you STILL have to change the game's settings to your need within the game options dialog!
There's no need to rollback NIVIDA's graphics driver! (at the time of writing current v378.49 was installed)
Hope this will help. Good luck!
P.S.: After then I still had to face the "no Mouse cursor visible" bug though. You can only circumvent this by setting "Windowed mode" instead of "Fullscreen"! :(( --- The W7 Compatibility mode/Run as Administrator trick didn't work for me... :(
Addendum:
After some Google & Try I can confirm after reseting the Windows Screen Zoom to 100% (in my case I had it set to 150% on my external plugged 3840x2160 screen) AND log off/on (like suggested by Windows after the change) and start the game you're finally to see the Mouse cursor in fullscreen again.
So that leaves only those 2 options, either windowed mode (interestingly the game offers with v1.0.0.8 now the option of "borderless windowed mode", but haven't tried it so far), or reseting the Windows screen zoom to 100%.
Regards...
