I bought Greedfall but when I try to add graphic settings from Gefore Experience software, it tells me it can't retrieve current game settings. I have click on the "Play" button and it tries to play off of the steam version and not the installed GoG version.

I have done the following with no luck:
I have started up the game and quit out.
I have reinstalled Gefore Experience, GoG Galaxy, and GreedFall on GoG.

This is really a Geforce Experience issue. I have around half a dozen games supported by the program, but I can't get a single one of them to retrieve the appropriate game settings. After a while I just gave up. Easy enough to optimise with a bit of effort through the nVidia control panel anyway.
