This is a message I get when I try to run the game on my netbook. Obviously with the gog version the cd is not going to be used, so the check for it should be removed...

While I guess the cd-check was removed some games still look if a cd-drive is available, as example Tropico. The solution for Tropico was to emulate a virtual-cd drive by using programs like Daemon-Tools

Yes, in most cases, when your PC / laptop doesn't have a optical drive, you should add a virtual drive and it should run.

I know it's inconveniency, but it's the best you can do.
