I click on the shortcut icon to start the game but it never starts right away! So I wait for like 15 mins and then it starts! It does this every time. Anybody have a answer as to why this is? Or is it normal for it to do that? I am running this one windows 7

Try to run it as Administrartir and/or in windows xp compatible mode.

Have you tried this ,its from another post on these forums .See if this applies to Gothic 1 ?

I SOLVED IT (at least for me, on 32 bit. I don't know how applicable the instructions are on 64 bit).
It's ridiculous.

Open the task manager and go to the processes tab.
When you start Gothic II, you will see two new processes appearing:
Gothic2.exe and rundll32.exe
When you end rundll32.exe, Gothic2.exe will also end.
HOWEVER.
-Start Gothic 2 twice.
-There will now be 2 gothic2.exe processes and one rundll32.exe.
-wait a little while to allow rundll32.exe to do its thing
-End rundll32.exe.
-Magically, Gothic II starts

Try closing your internet browser, if you have it open.
