StephaneF: Hello
Does someone know why I have that horrible white band at the upper left corner of my screen when I play Gothic 2 ?
I tried changing the resolution, changing the settings of my screen ... nothing works.
According to your screenshot, you're using the game's standard resolutions (e.g. 1440x900).
Maybe your graphics card can handle the game better if you run it in your desktop resolution. There's a community widescreen patch, but you can also try editing Gothic.ini in the game's installation folder:
Set extendedMenu=0 to extendedMenu=1
Set zVidResFullscreenX= and zVidResFullscreenY= to the width (X) and height (Y) of your desktop resolution or one with the same aspect ratio.
Save and run the game.
There were also some border-in-fullscreen issues with the game on Win 8, just in case you're using it, there's a
patch but in the GOG version it should already be fixed. Make sure you're using the current GOG version of the game.
As a workaround, you could also try playing the game windowed and if that works, make it borderless:
For windowed mode edit Gothic.ini again:
Set zStartupWindowed=0 to zStartupWindowed=1
and set scaleVideos=1 to scaleVideos=0
For borderless windowed mode install the
Fullscreen border fix (which was originally for Windows 8) and set the game's resolution to your desktop's resolution.
