The frame rate in Gothic is locked to 25fps, which really kills the game in my opinion.
To get rid of this annoyance, follow the instructions in post #18 in this forum thread, and the frame rate goes as high as your rig can manage.
Does the fps unlock... unlock the speed? Or modifies the gameplay like in Quake 3 ?
Thanks for the awesome URL, Deepo. The game is actually tolerable now! I felt like I was watching a slideshow. :)
I know this is a silly question, but how do you actually install the mod? I run the exe after extracting it but I can't seem to get it to do anything.....
Cheers

Uereg: have u installed the Player Kit ? it's needed to run it

I installed the player kit and now the game runs super smooth. Thank you!
Can someone please walk me through step by step how to do this. I downloaded both the playkit and the FPS patch, but the site was in German and I don't have a clue what to do after downloading those two things. Any help appreciated.

I installed the player kit first, which was an easy step by step process. Then ran the FPS mod, and located the new "gothicmod" file and told it to OK that. It seemed to work for me - you will get a confirmation of the install if successful. GL.
Clamwin is detecting the player kit, specifically the uninstaller exe that get created after you unpack it, is a trojan. Is this just my AV being paranoid or do you guys get this too?

You might want to try an other Anti-Virus Program. For me AV is a little paranoid too these days.
It's probably just your AV being retarded because the installer/uninstaller actually rewrites part of the game executable to run its own code. Lots of viruses do a similar action (insert a stub that reinstalls themselves after the PE header of every executable on the system) to make sure they're not easily removed.
I can't get the mod to work, i have the player kit and fps patch installed but my framerate is still about locked at 25fps. Is there something i am doing wrong?
edit: Wow, after about 3 days of trying to fix this the second i make this post i found my problem haha.
If anybody else is a bit confused by the whole process, when you have the player kit and fps patch installed, you have to first (at least for me) double click the fps patch exe and then find the gothic mod file in your Gothic/system directory and double click that. It should say the fps patch has been installed successfully. Then, when you wanna play the game, go to the Gothic/system directory and use the "Gothic_Starter.exe" file to launch the game. You can copy and paste the icon and replace it with the original gothic exe file to make it easier.
