Hi

I am Running Gothic 2 on Windows 8.1 and everything seems to be runing smoothly expect for that when Iam in Xardas tower i get a strange ripping noise, almost like ripping paper on one bit of the music. I have tried to change the Audio provider settings but everytime I restart the game as it says I need to it goes back to Miles. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, since I googled this issue for 2 hours today and only found questions but only one single answer, I thought I'd reply here too:

The 3 Xardas sound files need to be replaced. Sadly I can not post any links at the moment...
So, google for:

Video title on Youtube, showing the issue and containing the solution in the describtion:

Gothic 2 - Xardas Tower Sound Glitch FIX - "Distorted Table Pushing?!"

German World of Gothic thread titles with the same issue and solution:

Gothic 2 Sound Fehler Rattern/Hall Grummeln [mp3] vorhanden zum anhören
and
Wie Soundfehler in Xardas Turm beheben?

The fix can be found on the website by:

Scroll down to:
Gothic 2 DNdR Xardas Tower Sound Fix

Download, extract, throw the folder into the Gothic II installation folder and overwrite the 3 Xardas soundfiles.
No more loud, glitchy sound :)
