Does the Gothic 1 and 2 work on netbooks?

Well, that depends on the netbook, I would say. Just look at the system requirements on the game cards.

But especially Gothic 1 was designed to be controlled with the keyboard, so in that regard it should lend itself perfectly for the use on a netbook.

I would expect at least Gothic 1 to run well on a netbook. Especially if you avoid doing some of the common things to spruce the game up, like increasing the draw distance for the landscape to 3x the normal limit in the .ini file. Gothic is from an era when 256MB of RAM and a 600MHz single core processor were considered pretty great, so you should be fine.
