cthulhuclown: I think with newer laptops that have both integrated video cards and ATI or NVIDIA video cards, certain older do not trigger recognition of the 2nd video card regardless of whether you make changes to nVidia settings for both gothic.exe and gogwrap.exe.
Even if you disable or uninstall the integrated graphics card, the issue is not solved. I tried doing that and it didn't solve the issue, and it actually makes it worse by not recognizing a video card at all!
I am kind of pissed I won't be able to play the game on high with high fps, but oh well...
Yes, the laptop makers will use any kind of marketing trick to sell so-called "gaming" laptops to people--don't blame you for being pissed--I know that I would be. Bottom line really is that nothing on Earth beats a decent desktop for gaming--it's not even close. Buying a laptop is fine for *work* or web browsing and for most things except gaming. Gaming pushes the hardware you buy like nothing else will push it, and as such games require pretty much the opposite of what laptops are designed for--which is using the lowest power possible for the longest battery-life possible. Laptops with dual gpus are a waste, imo. Best solution is own a desktop for gaming and a laptop for your portable needs--the gaming is *a lot* better on a desktop. And for desktops, stay away from Intel GPUs...! Ugh. They don't work for gaming in a desktop any better than they do in a laptop--go strictly AMD or nVidia. (My choice is AMD but YMMV, and either will be much better in a desktop than in a laptop.)
