Hey, there. I went and bought Risen on Steam a while back and had a love/hate relationship with it until I realised there were invisible rails I was supposed to follow and that I wasn't to attempt much combat or exploration until at least chapter 2. Then I loved it.
I didn't go for Gothic I as there were finished playthroughs on youtube that I was content to sit through, but I had trouble finding a good, finished G2 playthrough that wasn't done by some git with a horrible voice who continued to exploit etc.
I bought G2 gold on steam. Long story short; I hate it. I raged, but it's due to the NOTR expansion (and partly due to everyone in general being a douche to you in the ENG version), so I'm fine with that.
My question is this: Is the Night of the Raven expansion optional in the GOG version? If so, I'll happily pay money for it, again. I'll confess I'm no casual, but I'm no self-loathing masochist, either. Thanks in advance!

Yes, the expansion is optional. When you run the installer you can go into the options menu and deselect installation of the NOTR expansion to just have it install Gothic 2.
Excellent. Thanks so very much, bro.
