Both Gothic I and II give me a problem where several mods that change the textures (Thiel Hater's pack for Gothic, and the Enhanced Edition for Gothic II) result in things like smoke effects, fire, the health bar, subtitle box, and menus, all flickering madly, but only inside certain locations. It's happening in the Old Mine in Gothic, and it happened to me in the final dungeon a while ago, and tends to happen anywhere indoors in Gothic II.
I've tried things like forcing or disabling AA, AO and Vsync in the Catalyst control, turned all video settings in game down to their lowest, and nothing has helped.

My specs are here, and I updated the video drivers fairly recently.

My laptop is an MSI GX740
AMD Mobility Radeon 5800 series
Intel Core i5 M450 2.4GHz CPU
Direct X11
8GB RAM

Would appreciate any help. It's not really game breaking, but it's extremely annoying and gives me a headache after long enough.

First off, I'm sorry that this post probably won't be any help to you-

I JUST yesterday started having some flickering issues that I haven't had before in Gothic 2!

I run no mods and restarting Gothic 2 (several times, I believe) eventually solved my issue. For some reason unbeknownst to me when I loaded a game lots of really large textures started flickering like mad.

Good luck with your problem!

Bah. I know that this problem is probably rooted in modern graphics drivers - both AMD and Nvidia seem to have a lot of problems with G1&2 nowadays. I would love to resolve this problem as soon as possible. I'm rather balls deep in a walkthrough right now and this problem is getting in my way.

Just out of curiosity, did this happen mostly in a city or a mountainous areas? I had the same problems in the past (although none the last few times) exclusively in those two terrain types.
Some ideas you can try, in no particular order:

- Disable display scaling
- Disable visual themes
- Disable desktop composition
- Disable display scaling on high DPI settings
- Disable DEP for the game
- Run as administrator
- Set compatibility mode

It's indoors. I don't have the problem outside, but some buildings cause the problem, and it's happening constantly inside of dungeons.

I'm not quite sure how to do the first two, but the rest of them didn't seem to work.
EDIT: Never mind, updating drivers didn't solve the problem either.
