[JUST TO CLARIFY: This is NOT referring to the WEAPON "Orcslayer" but instead to the SKILL "Orc Slayer"]

So I've read a few forum threads which suggested this either does +50% damage or double damage, but when I test the skill it really doesn't seem to do nearly that much.

I JUST found Hogar in the Wolf Clan so I decided to test the skill out to try to get a feel for how worthwhile it is.

With a power attack with my sharpened Paladin Sword I did approximately 50% of an Orc Warrior's HP.

With Orc Slayer a power attack seemed to do around 60% of an Orc Warrior's HP.

===

I know the skill requires Large Weapons I (for some reason?) but I don't actually need a large weapon to get Orc Slayer to work, do I?

Has anyone else noticed this previously?

I have been wondering about this myself. Personally I am yet to see any difference at all so the skill might just be broken.
Hey,

I hope I can help you.

1. The skill is working correctly, however I think it was tweaked during development of Community Patch Team - Large Weapon requirement is when you play with AB on.

2. To find out the damage formula - which is pretty complex - please see this post. Use Translate function, if you use Chrome.

Keep in mind that the "increase % of damage (even if in game it says "double")" refers to increasing base damage of the weapon you're wielding and this value is then added to formula ( + Str, +other perks, +crit chance, -target armor/resistances ). A rough estimation would be: ff you take 30% of target HP with a melee attack (no crit), with Orc Slayer you should be able to take somwhere around 40%.

It's pretty well-balanced, considering it's an easy to get skll. I consider it a long-term investment. :-)

Google translate makes a mess out of that post, and my partial german is no better, but from what I can gather orc killer is just a flat 25 dmg boost somewhere inside the formula. Juiciest piece of the article: don't bother trying to understand the formula, just be content it gets calculated somehow. Rotfl, best manual ever.
Wow... it's a flat damage increase? Interesting.

Surprisingly, I actually have a higher opinion of the skills now.
