It just gives a black screen and nothing happens

Okay, your other thread said Gothic 1. Which game is it?

gothic 1 and gothic 3 but 1 launching causes such a problem that i can't even close it and have to reboot the whole computer

Yeah, I had the same issue with 1. Had to sign out and back in to get my screen back. Couldn't even close it with task manager. That's why I didn't much like the brute force method because it's such a pain to get back to desktop. It will work, sometimes 10 times in a row, and then sometimes it will fail 10 times in a row.

Finally I modded it. Glad I did to because it looks amazing. Take a look at my screenshot to see what Gothic 1 looks like modded to run with DX11 and a texture pack. The lighting and detail are awesome. Just look at the barrier in the sky in this photo, but also notice the lighting around the campfire, even the tree looks amazing compared to vanilla.

I don't know anything about Gothic 3. Sorry.
