Hi. What version of the Gothic 3 Community Patch should I use? Are there any other patches needed?
I know there's a stickied thread but it's from 2011 and the version number of the community patch is less than the game's version number.
The GoG version of Gothic 3 comes with the community patch pre-installed.
It's currently at revision 1.75.14, which seems to be the most recent one.

/edit:
I recently installed the above version, but only played for about 2 hours.
It made a stable impression and did not appear to require anything else.
I guess you'll find out in the course of time.

I did it wrong. I installed Gothic 3 FSK EE, thinking it was Gothic 3.
I don't see a FSK community patch, Questpacket and Content mod.
Should I use FSK or not?

If you want to play Gothic 3, you shouldn't.
Other than that, I can only refer you to the game's GoG page; read the reviews there in order to decide if you want to give it a try. The EE, if I get this right, already comes with an integrated Community Patch.

But then: Gothic 3 in itself is a very time-consuming endeavour.
Why waste even more time on something that isn't even Gothic 3?

/Edit:
You do realise, I hope, that G3 FGEE is a standalone, i.e. practically a different game and, on top of that, was not even made by the makers of G3?

Not a clue, thanks! I did my best not to spoil Gothic 3 and this is the result..
The name made it sound like a DLC, good job on Jowood there. I'm not really familiar with GoG either, It says Piranha Bytes as the dev on the store page for Gothic 3 FGEE version. Is this the game that some think should've been renamed to Gothic 4? Doesn't PB own the IP, why did they let them use the Gothic 3 name?

side note: GOG should really list the Publisher on the store page as well. Then, in the case of Jowood's assets being bought by THQ Nordic, also make that change to the store page as well. Publishers are going crazy with microtransactions this year, publishers aren't invisible, we need to know who's to blame.

I have no idea why PB is listed among the publishers of the game, but it is quite apparent that they had nothing to do with developing it.

I think it is not exaggerating to say that Jowood and their greed, paired with their obvious ignorance as to what makes a good game, have completely ruined the Gothic franchise. They forced PB into publishing G3 one year before it was finished - a disaster - and then they had the "DLC" made by a total outsider.

By that time, PB had split up into two studios, and the less talented one created "ArcaniA" - which basically is Gothic 4, but couldn't legally be named that way. It became one of the best hated and worst reviewed games in history.

I'm not familiar with the complicated naming right's history, but I seem to remember that PB only recently got it back. So maybe, only maybe, there will be an authentic Gothic 5 after ELEX or ELEX2?

I haven't played ELEX yet. From what I've seen, it looks like an amazing game. I've seen Streamer's from the States playing it.

Gothic 1 was released a year before Morrowind. The only reason I've found why the Elder Scrolls series was more popular in the States compared to the Gothic series is lack of marketing, no console port, numerous bugs and an odd control sceme. Without those issues, I think PB's Gothic could've been everybody's favorite 3D RPG of all time. You can tell everything in the game was created by devs who loved and cared for everything they did.

Seeing ELEX being played by so many makes me happy. It's obvious that PB has gotten very good.

You gotta belive that in their hearts and still owning the IP to Gothic, that they want to make Gothic 5...epic.

If they do, hopefully they'll take a lesson from Morrowind and give it a huge unique name. So new players don't feel a need to play the other 4 Gothic games.
