I used to play Gothic 1 and 2 back like 8 or 10 years ago, so I bought em off from Gog. I remember we used to activate the health potion shortcut through a trick in the ini file (turning a 0 to 1), and so I did, but I'm still not getting the health potion shortcut thing. Is my memory getting rusty or is there a new way to do it on Gog's Gothic 2 Gold?

I dont have the GoG Version of this game, but I doubt that it differs greatly from the retail version. In my gothic.ini of gothic 2 there is this section: I think this line should do the job.

After you have changed this line, you should restart gothic and then go to the keyboard settings. There should appear 2 entries, where you have to define the shortcut keys before you can use them.

Aye, I did that, mentioned it vaguely in my original post, but it's not showing up in my keyboard settings. Even in the "more keys" panel

This just cant be! :P (Or in other words: then I dont know what is going wrong.)

Edit: Could it be, that this potion keys depend on the Gothic 2 controls and wont work with the Gothic 1 controls?

Well I'm using Gothic 2 controls...

IIRC, you cannot configure them in the menu (just hard-coded defaults).
And if I remember correct, you might have to press an additional key (LCtrl?) if the developer mode (marvin) is enabled (like the quick save/load hotkeys, because the keys are already used for other things in devmode).

So what are the hard-coded defaults, then?

H (heal) and P (potion)

To change the assignment you could configure another key binding and copy the values in the Gothic.ini to keyHeal and keyPotion.

Whatever, doesn't matter. I've gotten far enough in the game without hotkeys now.
