So, after quite some time of collecting virtual dust in my virtual GOG shelf, I got into playing Gothic 2 for the first time.

Installed and everything went well, I had to make some adjustments to graphics and resolution but framerate was "okay" considering I run more demanding games in this laptop, and Gothic 2 is a little old. But while doing so, I stumbled upon a mod (apparently highly praised) called Requiem.

Requiem changes many aspects of the game, works upon some already existing and adds more flavor to the game while making it a more challenging experience. I decided to install it right away.

Now, when I start the game at Xardas' tower framerate is smooth as butter, but as soon as I go out to the wilderness my fps go down to the point it can be compared to a slideshow, I'm sure is because of the many textures the mod adds.

Anyways, I managed to get the game running by sacrificing graphical fidelity and most important the so called "object fading", which renders NPCs and trees. I had to drop it all the way down to 20% which is ridiculous, wolves will attack me as soon as they're rendered and I have some experience with G3 combat system but G2s is kinda clunkier and wolves are more difficult with the mod. So I went for a tinkering run.

------------------------------ Start Reading Below This Line If You Want To Skip Some Background Story --------------------------------

I opened Gothic2.exe with CFF Explorer and allowed the executable to allow >2gb address space. I've done this before since my previous gaming rig got fried due to recurring power outages and voltage spikes in my country, replacing the damaged parts was not an option since economy in my country is going down the toilet (Venezuela). So I'm doing my gaming in a decent laptop as of now, this fix has worked like a charm for many games. (Notably M&B Classic and Fallout 3 modded)

But for some reason it does not with Gothic 2 so much, the fix worked as expected, now I can run it with proper framerate with an exception. The game starts and I can play but all the human NPCs including my character are headless! It's funny I will not lie but is not too playable.

I don't know how changin the address space of the exe has rendered all the humans in the game headless. Perhaps is too much awesomeness for them. But I really want to play the game with a decent framerate and head displaying characters.

Has anybody tried this before? Help. :)

Thanks in advance.

This is kinda basic but have you tried setting the compatibility mode to xp service pack 3 and running the game as administrator?

And also, I really recommend you buy yourself an amd/nvidia video card because intel hd graphics is not that good. Intel should've really stuck to processors xd

You may want to try this tool.
Don't know if it can help you, though, because it should basically make the same changes you already did to the game's executable.
