Greetings to you,

I always wanted to buy Gothic 1 for my Windows 10 PC, but I don`t know whether it works or not.
Can anyone here tell me if the game is working? If, what do I have to do to make it work?

With friendly regards.
Hello, just installed Gothic 1 on Windows 10, and it works fine.

EDIT: Gothic 1, and it looks Gothic 2 (I didn't try myself) do not recognize the Nvidia card on laptops where there is also a built-in Intel HD card. I'm still working to find a solution for this.

Same for me.
To those who had it work fine... you didn't have to do anything?

I can't get it to work right on Windows 10 at all.

I mean, it loads up.. but then I can't change resolution, or it shrinks to a smaller window (I can see my desktop behind it) only showing the top-left quadrant and the rest of the screen is hidden. So now I can't change resolution.

I tried using one of the community patches but it wouldn't let me install it to my actual game folder, so that was a dead-end.

Tried using a direct ini config suggestion, and that didn't work either. The game starts and then freezes and crashes at the opening screen.

Is this one of those binary situations of "if it works for you on Windows 10, great.. you're set. If not.. you're screwed, give up and move on"?

It worked without me having to do something.

I know this is an old post, but here's the solution for Win 10:

Press Start and search for "Graphics Settings"

Under "Graphics performance preference" select "Desktop App" from the dropdown menu.

Click Browse.

Find GOTHIC.EXE ([GOGdefaultDirectory] > Gothic > System > GOTHIC.EXE) and choose that.

Now Gothic should be selectable under that dropdown menu (not in the dropdown menu). CLick on it to reveal Options and click that.

Select "High Performance" and Save.

Now it should run ;)
