Hey, I'm trying to play Gothic 1 but all the patches are so confusing for me.

I'm trying to play on a custom resolution of 2560x1440p on Windows 8.1.

I've tried using the guide above, but when it gets to the widescreen fix, which is in german, it comes up with a bunch of errors whilst trying to compress videos in BINK., and then the installer pops up with german errors, which I do not understand.

Could anyone help?

Try this - For other widescreen resolutions open up the game shortcut and edit the "Target" field. Add the following...

-zRes:****,****,32

The "****"s represent your desired widescreen resolution with the width listed first. The "32" represents the color bit-depth.

Ah it works for 1080p, but crashes at 1440p a bit unfortunate but not the end of the world... though I'd still enjoy 1440p hah.

I'm still trying to get that german patch working though, so frustrating.
