I just downloaded and installed the latest version of G1 using the install packs (not gog galaxy download) and I discovered that my gpu (gtx 1080) is no longer recognised, preventing me from bumping the texture filtering and AA in the driver control panel. The previous version of the install packs simply labeled 1.08k worked just fine just a heads up to anyone still playing that also encountered this problem.
