LOD1976: Don't use the system pack on G2 anymore. Could crash the game. Log off or restart of Windows needed. Only install the widescreen fix to use 1920x1080. Game runs fine even without the system pack. G1 still needs the system pack.
System pack still seems to be generally recommended. Has something changed recently? I'm about to start a new G2 game for the first time in 3 or 4 years so please clarify if you could. Thanks.

nothing has changed, it is still necessary.

Edit - Nevermind. I didn't realise I had to downgrade from patch 2.7 to 2.6.

MaGoth: nothing has changed, it is still necessary.
My game is running fine without the system pack, but won't start wit system pack installed. Access Violation with system pack, working without.

Just did install with system pack and everything works OK. Played for an hour, no problems.

Just checked Gothic 1 and 2 again. Gothic 1 needs the system pack to get 1920x1080. 1440 is running without a problem. Gothic 2 has problems as soon I install the system pack. Only installed Playerkit for Gothic 2 and it's working fine. With the system pack I get access violation error. No problem, I don't need the sysem pack for G2 anymore. Just don't understand why. A few months ago G2 was not running without.

Just did a clean install and forgot to activate G-Sync. Game is running fine with all Patches installed. Activated G-Sync and Access Violation was back. Maybe this can help some to get their problem fixed. Looks like G-Sync is the problem.
