Overall, an excellent rpg. Character building and inventory management was alot of fun. The ending could have been better. I was looking forward to a massive final dungeon with alot of tough and unique monsters and a insanely tough final boss, but it didn't happen. Oh well, I still enjoyed the game and high recommend it to any rpg fan.
I agree then ending could be a little better but its still a great RPG. Are you moving onto Gothic 2?

Yes, but not right away. I need to finish some other games first. I'm playing Realms of Arkania 1: Blade of Destiny right now and its going to take me awhile to beat it, its a very hard game. Later.
Gothic 2 has a superior ending experience. Overall, everything is implemented better than Gothic 1 except mana/being a mage. Still the same awkward design.

I've completed it as a kid back in 2002, it was a great experience.
I still remember swamp camp atmosphere, it was much darker than G2:NotR...

But yeah, final boss was way too easy. (Couple of Left-Right swings and he was down...)

If you liked G1, you will LOVE Gothic 2 Gold (G2+TNoTR expansion). One of the best RPGs ever made.

Wait! Am I missing something? I don't even remember there being a final boss to fight as he was unkillable (needed to escape for the next game). I just placed five swords into their proper place while avoiding demons and game over.

The final fight is when you finish off the sleeper. I thought you used the swords to open a hatch were you hack up a hart or something like that. Repeat 4 more times.

I don't know, just never considered that a boss fight. Place five swords into slots to pierce five shaman hearts. The swamp camp fanatics were much harder then that. I guess it didn't help that my armies of darkness would fight any demons or golams that I had and they each other. Mayhem, that's what it was :).
