Out of curiosity, if Gothic 3 were to be remade with the locking system, climbing/jumping system, and combat mechanics of Gothic 2 implemented, would anyone here rebuy it? Or any holdouts who like the series consider it? I was just wondering. The likelyhood of that happening is next to nil, but i like to dream.

I would consider it, but probably not. The way I see it, returning some of the better mechanics of Gothic 2 would necessitate even more changes. For example, if you added proper Gothic-style climbing to Gothic 3, you would have to redesign a lot of the terrain to support it. It's not the climbing and jumping in-and-of-themselves that are important, but the way climbing and jumping contribute to exploration and discovery.

One of the reasons Gothic 1 and 2 have better cliffs, caves, and dungeons is because they were designed from the start with climbing and jumping in mind.
