Gothic 1 was obviously designed for keyboard only with the mouse bit tacked on last minute. I just started playing using the mouse but before I get too far is it worth it to use the mouse at all? When baddies start adding up does it become an advantage or just a big pain? I'm good either way, I'd just like some other opinions and possible recommendations. Thanks!

Not sure if this is any help but I'm too clutsy not to use a mouse - I used it throughout and had no problems. I would (if you can) program your keyboard so the two commands needed for everything is combined into one, though.

Like I told someone else, if I can master Die By the Sword I think I can do this. :P I've got a nice comfortable keyboard mouse setup now I was just worried that later because of how the game was originally designed that it might work against me. Thanks again.

In the Gothic community, there are die-hard keyboard-only fans, that even reject the much smoother mouse-control in Gothic II, but I - like many others - don't have a problem at all with the mouse in Gothic 1.

So I would say it's just a matter what you prefer, but I would say both is viable.
