I do not know which genius decided that changing original controls for G2 for all of the game versions is the way to go, but I would like a way to change them back. The game became unplayable - mostly the fight controls and the most annoying part is that I cannot even seem to change the controls as I wish because i cannot implement sequences (like L-Ctrl + left arrow) in the menu. Does anyone have a solution for this? Also - it seems that it also permalocks (lock opponent button does not unlock the pick) my view on a single opponent. In a multiway fight its deadly. I cannot change from one goblin to another and sometimes it even picks friendly - NPCs that are fighting against mobs with me. I mean, besides knowing the solution for this, I would also love to know the person who is behind these changes and find out the logic that lead them to believe it benefits the players in any way.
I am suffering from the same problem. How can I set the controls as they ALWAYS were? No, changing between default and alternative controls in game does nothing. I can set walking to WASD but fighting is impossible - unable to set it as it always was (holding L-click and W for forward attack, A or D for side attacks, S for blocking). Please help.
This problem hasn't been solved, it seems. I have exactly the same issue. The controls are completely messed up, the classic "ctrl + cursor keys" for fighting don't work and there seems to be no way to configure it back. What was the intention in changing controls to something that's completely unusable?

edit: ok, I think the solution is to go to the menu option "gameplay" (instead of controls) and chose "G1 controls". Why they are deactivated by default is beyond me. With them enabled, it's exactly as it should (yet not exactly as G1 was, thankfully: you don't have to push both ctrl and cursor up to open a chest for example).
